Dallas Green’s Granddaughter Killed in Arizona Shooting

The young girl killed in Saturday’s mass shooting in Tucson, Ariz. was the nine-year-old granddaughter of Phillies legend Dallas Green.Christina-Taylor Green, born on Sept. 11, 2001, was shot and killed during a trip to a Tucson Safeway where she had hoped to meet U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. According to the Arizona Star, Green had gone to the Safeway with a neighbor who also was shot but is recovering from surgery.
Six people were killed, including Christina-Taylor and a federal judge, and 13 were wounded when an assailant opened fire outside of the grocery store where Giffords was meeting her constituents. The congresswoman was among the wounded, suffering a gunshot wound to the head and is listed in critical condition at a nearby hospital.
