Betty Garret has passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011. Her son Garrett Sinatra disclosed to the media. One must remember that the actress graced the Broadway stage and played Frank Sinatra’s love interest twice onscreen. She was 91 years old and died because of aortic aneurysm. Betty is survived by her two sons Garrett and Andrew, two daughters-in-law and a granddaughter.
Her two most famous movie roles were in “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” and “On the Town,” both movies were produced in 1949. It is a bit tragic to remember that Garrett was blacklisted from Hollywood and her film career was cut short. Her husband, Larry Parks, had to testify to HUACC about his membership in the community party. They were both blacklisted thereafter.
In 1970s and even in 1980s Garrett went on to ensure her appearances in both “All in the Family” and “Laverne and Shirley”. But the most interesting is her most recent work that included guest-starring roles on “Boston Public,” “Becker” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”
